Course Descriptions

CPR/AED FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER

Certification valid for one year

 

Participants will learn to appropriately respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for infants, children and adults.  At the completion of the course, all students will be able to correctly perform rescue breathing, perform one and two rescuer CPR, use the automated external defibrillator (AED), and use a bag valve mask.

Participants holding current American Red Cross CPR/AED for  the Professional Rescuer certifications may take an abbreviated recertification course.

 

Prerequisites:

All participants must be 15 years old prior to the completion of the course.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING AND FIRST AID

Certification valid for three years

 

Participants will learn the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to aquatic emergencies and the characteristics and responsibilities of a professional lifeguard.  First aid and disease transmission prevention skills will also be covered.

Participants holding current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid certifications may take an abbreviated recertification course.

 

Prerequisites:

All participants must be 15 years old prior to the completion of the course.  Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously prior to the start of the class.  All participants will be asked to demonstrate their swimming abilities at the beginning of the class.  CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider must be completed prior to the Lifeguard Training and First Aid course.
